Part 14. Doom Day
Zero turned to Ciana and fixed his emotionless glare onto her, “Did you two do anything?” “What? N-no! We just were both having a hard time falling asleep, so we just ended up accidently together… On the roof…” Zero glared at her a bit, jealousy burning in his eyes, “I will see you at breakfast.”
I won’t share the long tedious events of the next weeks with you, but extensive training took place during the following weeks. Everyone became well versed in using firearms, disarming firearms, and simple hand to hand contact, along with honing in on their own personal abilities. By the end of that week of vigorous training, they were well trained super children (even Penelope, who complained the whole time).
And a month later, Zero’s plan was in motion, and everyone had every step of the plan memorized like the back of their hands. Hidden away in the base was Claire, along with Brownie and Coco. Zero assured Ciana and Jade that Claire was being cared for by the same nanny-bots that raised the babies in the complexes.
They all calmly sat on the roof top of their base, waiting for the arrival of the assimilators, of which Zero promptly had alerted to their location. The plan was in motion. Penelope was whining loudly, complaining about how afraid she was, Rock just simply sat next to her, silent as ever, but with a reassuring arm around her. Arthur chuckled, “You know I’m the manliest man on earth right? And you can totally be reassured by my presence Jade,” the nervous undertones in his voice were obvious though, and when Jade chuckled back, you could hear the nervousness in her voice as well, and she rested her head on his shoulder. Rich gazed down at Ciana, who was anxiously twirling some grass, and he silently took her hand. Zero watched them all, and he felt fear brewing in his heart as well. It was a fear of many things.
A few minutes’ later assimilators rained down like hell, and quickly shoved everyone into transport vehicles that were going to take them to Jogan, the capital. But the main political building floated in the middle of the city, and that was where Robert, the head of everything was located.
Everyone had been drugged, and they slowly came to consciousness in a dark room, and after everyone came too a bit more, they realized they were in a large office. They were all on their knees, with their hands tied behind their backs.
“I can’t say it’s been easy trying to find you, but it was a tiny slip up that allowed us to track you.” Roberts’s deep voice addressed them. “And now I’m sad to say that your journey has come to an end.” They all watched him carefully, and curiously. “You were mistakes, and mistakes must be erased.” “We’re not mistakes! We’re human beings!” “No!” Robert barked at Ciana, who flinched, “You’re mutants. Failed science experiments.” “Even me, Father?” Nobody had expected Zero to speak up, this was not part of the plan. Everyone just turned to Zero in shock, as he stunned even Robert into silence. Zero just stared at him blankly. “I know who I am, I am Robin Jogan, your son.” Robert just stared at him in shock, and all of a sudden all the pain looked like it flooded into his eyes, but they quickly turned to steel again, and he suddenly raised a gun to Zero’s face.
“You couldn’t possibly be. He is dead to me, just like her. You’re just a robot boy.”
Ciana, Arthur, Jade, Rich, Rock and Penelope could in stare in total and utter fear and shock as the plan was suddenly unraveling before them, and Zero, their beloved leader was about to die, when suddenly, the explosions they had previously placed shook the building, distracting Robert.
A week previously, a brilliant espionage plan was put into place. A brilliant stunt, where they snuck into the Capital, and laced this building with explosives, that were programmed to set off one at a time. And the first bomb had just gone off.
The floating piece of architecture suddenly leaned drastically to the left, and that is when (like they had planned), Zero broke free of the constraints, along with Rock. Zero quickly sprung to his feet, taking Robert off guard disarming him, and they both started throwing punches. Rock quickly freed everyone else, and their flying escape vehicle appeared at the window, just like planned. Everyone made a mad dash to the vehicle as the second explosion went, causing the huge floating architecture to turn to it’s right, and a huge pillar crashed down behind them.
With barely anytime left, everyone had made it to the vehicle as the third explosion went off, the one that was supposed to cause the Capitols Capitol crash to the ground, ending the tyranny of complexes and assimilators. The pilot of the flying vehicle turned around to the six teenagers, shocking Ciana and Arthur, “There are only six of you! There’s supposed to be seven!” Cassidy yelled back at them, they all could only stare, “I’ll explain later! Where is Robin?” They all looked back too late though, through the now ruined office set ablaze, they could only see Robert, embracing Zero, both on their knees, it was too late now, the floating piece of architecture was going down, and all Ciana could do, was reach out and scream, as she watched Zero plummet to the ground.
